FARGO, N.D. – A dynasty at the FCS level, the North Dakota State Bison have finally made the jump to FBS and will compete in the Mountain West for the 2026 college football season.

Can The Dynasty Continue?
For those unfamiliar, this is by far the greatest college football program in history at the FCS level. Since 2011, North Dakota State has absolutely dominated with 10 National Championships in 11 championship game appearances.
This team is also stronger than ever coming into its first season at the FBS level, averaging 41.1 points per game last season, while their defense led the nation at just 13 points allowed per game.
As far as the team they have together, all but one starter on offense is a returning player from last season, and three on defense. Outside of the fact that this is their first season moving to FBS, there are other concerns to keep in mind.
Under center, Nathan Haynes is a first time starter. He looked promising in limited snaps last season, completing 25/44 attempts for 381 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception.
The receiving core also has some uncovering to do with leading receivers Bryce Lance and Raja Nelson both moving on, leaving tight end Reis Kessel as the leading pass catcher from last season, and Jackson Williams and Mekhi Collins stepping into larger roles out wide. The three combined for less than 1,000 yards last season.
