Kentucky Takes Advantage At Home
This is a much harder matchup for Alabama than some might realize, and Alabama sportsbooks are holding off pumping the spread even more than it is. Kentucky comes in off an impressive 45-13 outing in Kenny Minchey’s debut.
Minchey looked great in his debut, going 18/27 for 301 yards and four touchdowns. He distributed well to Kenny Darby, Mikkel Skinner, and Willie Rodriguez, each seeing three receptions and 45+ yards, with a touchdown for each of them.
For Alabama, they won 48-10, and while the numbers and margin are typical, this was not an ideal outing for their starters. Keelon Russell looked decent with 256 yards on 18/30 passing with no touchdowns. He added 86 yards and a score on the ground.
The most concerning point was that Ryan Coleman-Williams could not get past his drop problem with two early on in the game. He ended with 130 yards and no score.
Alabama has also struggled with mobile quarterbacks in recent seasons. While Minchey didn’t play like a typical dual-threat QB, he has the ability to take off and run if needed.
Given Kentucky’s momentum and Alabama’s questionable stat line, we’re leaning on Kentucky to cover the +10.5 points here.
