Iowa Continues Applying Pressure
Iowa sportsbooks are rightfully leaning on the Hawkeyes here. Iowa is coming off a 40-0 shutout win over Northern Illinois that saw over 500 yards of total offense, including 289 rush yards and 7.6 yards per carry. Kamari Moulton led the way with 183 yards and two touchdowns on 16.6 yards per carry.
In typical Hawkeye fashion, the defense was a nightmare. They allowed just 120 total offensive yards, which included just seven yards on the ground on 31 attempts.
As for Iowa State, while a 38-10 win on paper is solid, they lost a ton of production from last season with Matt Campbell picking up and leaving for Penn State, and it showed. The Cyclones went just 4/10 on third down and only managed 15 first downs for the game as a whole. The run game managed just 109 yards on 3.5 yards per carry.
Iowa’s defense should have no issues picking up where they left off in Week 1 and torturing Iowa State’s new look offense. Hard slam on the Hawkeyes covering -14 on the spread.
