College football prop betting sites list Utah as 3-point road favorites entering Saturday night, despite being ranked lower and having a worse record. Here are some factors to consider when betting on the 2025 edition of the storied rivalry.

Recent Performance

Both teams have gotten off to a hot start this season, with Utah sitting at 5-1 while BYU has gone a perfect 6-0, but there are still questions about each team’s resume.

Utah made quick work of both UCLA and West Virginia, defeating each of the two by 30+ points. Their first true test came against Texas Tech, which resulted in a 34-10 loss for the Utes. Texas Tech was #17 in the country at the time but has since risen to #7.

They pulled off a surprise blowout victory against #21 Arizona State last weekend, winning by a final score of 42-10 to earn their first ranked victory of the season.

BYU’s schedule has been suspect, with three of their four wins against Power 4 teams coming against teams below .500 (Stanford, Colorado, West Virginia).

The Cougars took down 4-2 Arizona on the road last week by a final score of 33-27 in double OT on the road.

Key Stats

Both teams rank inside the top 12 in the country in rushing yards per game, Utah coming in at 248.2 yards per game while BYU is right behind at 238.0 yards per game.

However, BYU has been much more effective in stopping the run, allowing just 104.2 yards per game while Utah has allowed 142.2 yards per game on the ground.

The Cougars have held opponents to 3.6 yards per carry as opposed to 4.2 yards per carry against the Utes.

The two are also 11th and 12th in the country in scoring defense, with Utah allowing just 13.8 points per game and BYU allowing 14.7 points per game.

BYU has won the last two matchups between the two teams, including a 22-21 victory on the road last season.

Betting Angle

It feels easy to lean towards the team with the best quality win between the two and the more experienced quarterback, but bettors should look to BYU moneyline for the best value in this one.

Despite their best win being a single score victory in double OT against an unranked team, it is hard to bet against an undefeated team against a conference rival at home.

The result of the game will ultimately come down to which team can rush the ball more effectively, and thus far, BYU has proven to be much more stout against the run defensively.

Expect a low scoring, ground and pound type of game ending with a big win for the Cougars at home.

Pick the Cougars to win outright (+140) and under 49.0 total points (-110) at Utah college football sportsbooks.
