ATLANTA – Following the halfway point of the college football season, we start to look at the odds being offered for different teams to make it to the College Football Playoff.
There are three teams on college football prop betting sites that we’re circling as the best value, including the Texas Tech Red Raiders, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, and Vanderbilt Commodores.
Texas Tech (-150)
It’s hard to believe that a Texas Tech team that is currently ranked 14th and has just one loss on the season has this much value to make the playoffs. Also, looking ahead to their remaining five games of the season, their opponents have a combined record of 17-18 and includes three teams sitting under a .500 record. Their most valuable game remaining would be in Week 11 and now #11 BYU.
They have a clear path to the top 12 should they win out, and would make a strong argument as an at large team should they drop the BYU game. It’s also worth noting that their only loss is to preseason #11 and now #24 Arizona State, which should hold its weight on their resume.
Georgia Tech (+120)
Get in on plus money CFP odds for Georgia Tech while they’re still being offered this low.
The Yellow Jackets are the current first place team in the ACC and ranked #7 in the country. They have four remaining games in the ACC in which they’ll be favored against all of them, including Syracuse, NC State, Boston College, and Pitt, leaving their path to the ACC Championship wide open.
They also have what is shaping out to be a top-10 matchup against the Georgia Bulldogs at the end of the season.
The Yellow Jackets are a top-5 offense in the ACC, putting up 35.3 ppg while allowing the fourth fewest points to opponents at 20.6 ppg.
Vanderbilt (+225)
Vandy is certainly the “It” team this season and is putting together a nice resume in the eyes of the college football playoff committee with two top-15 wins this season over then #11 South Carolina and then #10 LSU.
Of these three teams, they have the best remaining schedule to strengthen their odds even more with three top-25 matchups remaining against #15 Missouri, #22 Texas, and #17 Tennessee.
Vanderbilt is the second highest scoring offense in the SEC, ahead of Week 9 of the season, with a massive 41.4 ppg average.
