NORMAN, Okla. – The Oklahoma Sooners are coming off a rare down season in 2024-25, where they finished below a .500 record at 6-7, which includes a bowl game loss. However, their preseason betting odds going into the 2025-26 season have remained put going into the year.

All of their odds on college football betting sites, including their odds to win the National Championship, SEC Championship, regular season win total, to make the college football playoff, have remained put from last season. The highlight of the bunch, though, are John Mateer’s odds to win the Heisman.

2025-26 Oklahoma Football Betting Odds

  • National Championship: +6000
  • SEC Championship: +2700
  • Win Total: 6.5
  • To Make The CFP: +425
  • John Mateer Heisman Odds: +1900

Historically, Oklahoma has the ninth most National Championships in history with seven. However, their most recent came in 2000, with the remaining six coming pre 1985. Their preseason odds in the past few seasons, though, have not been the most competitive as they’ve opened above +5000 every year since 2022.

Moving on to their SEC Championship odds, the Sooners quickly learned that the SEC is not the Big 12, with this being their second consecutive season with +2500 or higher odds to win the conference title. Prior to moving to the SEC, they’ve won the most Big 12 conference titles with 14 between 2000 and 2020. Their preseason conference title odds prior to their move to the SEC have never opened above +600.

The 6.5 regular season win total is the lowest set win total for Oklahoma since before 2005. Since 2005, they’ve only finished below a 6.5 win total in two seasons, however, both of those times came within the last three years. The Sooners are going into the season with the third toughest strength of schedule.

Now looking at their odds to make the college football playoff, Oklahoma has the fifth most appearances (4) since the committee began selecting teams in 2014. Each of their four appearance since 2015 has come with plus money odds. One thing to point out is that in the years that they made the CFP (2015, 2017, 2018, 2019), have all come with +3000 odds or less preseason odds to win the National Championship.

Of all of their preseason odds, John Mateer’s Heisman odds are some of the most promising as they sit in the top-10 shortest odds going into the season. In history, Oklahoma has been a breeding ground for Heisman trophy winners with eight. The last four, though, have all been quarterbacks. Getting even more specific, their two most recent Heisman winners in Baker Mayfield (2017) and Kyler Murray (2018) were both transfer QBs as well like Mateer.
