The College Football Playoff Breakdown
To no surprise, Ohio State remains favored to win their second straight National Championship. However, it is Indiana who is going in as the top overall seeded team. The Hoosiers sit with the second shortest odds on college football sportsbooks.
The flop in odds to rankings likely comes as Indiana drew a tougher quarterfinal matchup, as they’ll face the winner of #8 Oklahoma and #9 Alabama, in which the Crimson Tide are favored.
As for Ohio State, their quarterfinal draw isn’t much easier with a matchup against either #10 Miami or #7 Texas A&M on tap. It’s the Aggies who are favored to move on.
The #3 Georgia Bulldogs have a straight shot to the semifinal as they’ll take on either Tulane or Ole Miss, who is currently a 17-point favorite over the Green Wave. The Dawgs also handled business against Ole Miss earlier in the season, where they covered a 7-point spread in a 43-35 victory.
Lastly, the #4 Texas Tech Red Raiders have gotten the toughest pull of them all. They’ll take on either #12 JMU or the #5 Oregon Ducks, who are 21-point favorites to move on. The winner of the quarterfinal matchup will move on to face either #1 Indiana or #8 Oklahoma/#9 Alabama in the semifinal.
