GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Heading down south to the Swamp in Gainesville, Florida, the media is all over the Florida Gators ahead of the 2025-26 season with high expectations for Billy Napier, DJ Lagway, and company.
The Gators exceeded all expectations last season going 8-5 including a bowl win after going into the season in the bottom five of the media poll prior to the season. Now looking ahead to this season, they are in the top half of the SEC preseason media poll and have seen their odds on college football prop betting sites climb in response to that.
Florida Gators 2025-26 Season Odds
- National Championship: +4500
- SEC Championship: +2500
- To Make CFP: +375
- Win Total: 7.5
- DJ Lagway Heisman Odds: +1800
It’s been a long road for the Gators and their National Championship odds. From 2020 to 2024, their odds fell significantly each year having gone from +1200 to +25000 preseason odds in a matter of five seasons. After exceeding expectations last season, they’ve climbed all the way back up to +4500 which are in the top-20 in the country. The Gators last won the National Championship in 2008 with +600 preseason odds and have three total.
Winning the SEC is no easy task, but the Gators have been competitive in the conference with 13 appearances and seven SEC Championships to show for. They’ve had recent appearances in 2015, 2016, and 2020, however, their last SEC Championship was in 2008 as well which came with +250 preseason odds. Their +2500 odds this season are their lowest preseason odds in the last four seasons.
Since the inception of the College Football Playoff era, the Florida Gators have never been selected as one of the CFP teams.
Unfortunately for UF, history is not on their side against a 7.5 win total in their recent seasons as they’ve stayed under this mark in the regular season for four straight seasons. Against their set win total on CFB betting sites, they are 2-3 going over in the last five seasons including last year where they went over 4.5 wins.
DJ Lagway’s Heisman Trophy odds might have the highest hopes of any other odds on the board for the Gators. In seven games that he started last year, he went 6-1 overall and threw for 1,915 yards, 12 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. The last player to win the Heisman for the Gators was QB Tim Tebow in 2007. All time, the Gators have seen three Heisman winners and all have been quarterbacks.
