The Favorites

Coming in with the shortest odds are both the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Ohio State Buckeyes. Starting with the Irish, depending on who is asked the question, they were snubbed from the college football playoff and were as dominant as ever this season.

Notre Dame will also have a very experienced roster, including CJ Carr under center, Jadarian Price in the backfield, and several defensive starters as well.

As for the Buckeyes, as long as Jeremiah Smith, Bo Jackson, Julian Sayin, and their defensive core are in place, they’ll remain at the top of college football sportsbooks odds to win the title.

Can The Hoosiers Repeat?

Over the last 25 years, there have been just two teams to repeat as National Champions. Alabama in 2011 and 2012 with +600 and +550 opening odds and Georgia in 2021 and 2022 with +600 and +350 opening odds.

While Indiana was extremely strong this season with a top-5 offense and defense, they are losing several key starters, including Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza. While they do have Josh Hoover coming over from TCU to take over as QB1, he’ll have massive shoes to fill in hopes of leading them to another title in his first year like Mendoza.

Is The “U” Back?

On paper, this season, Miami looked as if they are back to their championship winning ways. However, according to oddsmakers, they are expected to take a step back with their +1800 opening odds not in contention with the rest of the top teams on the board.

Miami is also taking significant losses going into next season with no QB1 set for next season, and key players such as Rueben Bain Jr., Francis Mauigoa, Akheem Mesidor, C.J. Daniels, and Damari Brown all headed for the NFL Draft. A total of 17 Canes players will enter the NFL Draft.
