NEW YORK – We have officially gone through the first half of the college football season, and there has been some major movement in the Heisman odds following Week 8.
Three names have separated themselves from the rest of the Heisman board on college football prop betting sites. Indiana QB Fernando Mendoza, Alabama QB Ty Simpson, and Ohio State QB Julian Sayin are the only quarterbacks with odds under +500 and three of four under +1000 odds.

Mendoza, Simpson, Sayin Pace The Field
Of the three, it’s Mendoza who has the shortest Heisman odds with 1,755 yards, 21 touchdowns, and two interceptions. He also boasts the fifth-highest QBR at 87.7. He also has two top-10 wins under his belt against then #9 Illinois and then #3 Oregon, which is something that Simpson and Sayin do not have. Mendoza went from the third-shortest odds last week (+450) to the shortest odds ahead of Week 9.
As for Ty Simpson, after an upset loss to Florida State in Week 1, he’s led Alabama to six straight wins, including four straight over ranked opponents. He is going into the second half of the season having posted 1,931 yards, 18 touchdowns, and just one interception with an 82.6 QBR. Simpson remained with the second-shortest odds, only shortening from +350 to +300.
Lastly, Julian Sayin has the fourth-highest QBR at 88.4 with 1,872 yards, 19 touchdowns, and three interceptions. He’s led Ohio State to the number one ranked team in the country with wins over then #1 Texas and then #17 Illinois. Sayin saw a significant jump from +1600 to +375.
