Western Kentucky comes in as a heavy favorite over FIU at college football prop betting sites with -400 odds to win outright. The Hilltoppers have won their previous five meetings with the Panthers.

Recent Performance

FIU has had a shaky start to their season, recording two 10+ point victories to go along with three 20+ point losses on their way to a 2-3 record.

They took care of business against Bethune-Cookman and FAU as favorites while also losing to Penn State in between, going 2-1 in their first three games. Things quickly went downhill, however, beginning with their blow out loss against Delaware at home as 5.5-point favorites.

Two weeks ago, in their most recent game, they lost at UConn by a final score of 51-10.

Western Kentucky has been one of the better non-Power 4 teams thus far, going 5-1 with a 3-0 record in conference play.

After starting off 2-0 with two dominant wins, they took a beating from Toledo, losing 45-21 on the road. The team responded after the loss, winning their next three consecutive games.

Offense vs Defense

The Hilltoppers own the best offense in Conference USA, averaging 429.5 total yards per game as well as 33.7 points per game.

They have done so by averaging over 300 passing yards per game, the 14th most in the country, led by senior transfer Maverick McIvor. They have also averaged 123.3 rushing yards per game with three running backs tallying 35 or more carries.

FIU has been able to move the ball down the field, averaging 364.2 yards of total offense per game, but they have had trouble converting it into points, averaging just 21.2 points per game.

Neither team has been effective in stopping teams from moving the ball, each allowing around 400 total yards per game, but Western Kentucky has managed to allow just 22.8 points per game while FIU has allowed 32 points per game.

Betting Angle

All indications are that Western Kentucky should be able to cover the 10.5-point spread, between the prolific offense and FIU’s tendency to get blown out.

The single variable that could swing the direction of the game is FIU’s ability to score points. Despite a relatively productive yardage output, their point total has not reached expectations.

If they could manage to score more effectively, this would be a more interesting line, but there has been no reason to believe that they will buck the trend.

Picking Western Kentucky to cover the spread is the best bet at college football sportsbooks in Kentucky.
