Notre Dame vs Pittsburgh Props: QB Plays Worth Backing

  • Pittsburgh props lean heavily on Heintschel's consistency as a starter, with all three bets showing strong hit rates when removing his limited backup appearance.
  • Notre Dame props bank on Carr's passing touchdown reliability anNotre Dame-Pittsburghd his struggles with interceptions against ranked defenses, while the yardage Under fits his season-long averages.

PITTSBURGH — The College Football Playoff picture hangs in the balance Saturday when No. 9 Notre Dame visits No. 23 Pittsburgh at Acrisure Stadium. Both teams enter at 7-2, and another loss likely slams the door on their postseason dreams. Beyond the spread and total, several player props offer compelling angles worth exploring.

Pittsburgh Props Worth Targeting

  • Total Passing Touchdowns - Mason Heintschel: Over 1.5 (+130)
  • Total Passing Yards - Mason Heintschel: Over 263.5 (-115)
  • Total Rushing Yards - Mason Heintschel: Over 18.5 (-115)
  • Three-leg parlay: +704

Mason Heintschel's passing touchdown prop at Over 1.5 for +130 catches the eye immediately. The true freshman has hit this mark in four of six appearances, and the context matters here. One miss came when he threw just four passes as Eli Holstein's backup — hardly a fair shot at clearing the number.

Strip out that outlier, and his passing yardage numbers look even better. Heintschel's averaging 302.2 yards per start, crushing the posted line of 263.5 at -115. He's topped that total in four of five legitimate starts, including a 320-yard showing against NC State. This Pennsylvania CFB props line seems to underestimate what he's been doing lately.

Another dimension is added by the rushing prop at Over 18.5 for -115. Heintschel has cleared this in four of his last six games, and his average rushing yardage is 28.6 when you take out the game in which he failed to record a carry.

In terms of rush defense, Notre Dame is ranked 47th in the country, giving up 102 yards per game, which may provide for rushing lanes. In half of his games, stacking all three as a parlay at +704 has paid off.

Notre Dame Props to Consider

  • Total Passing Touchdowns - CJ Carr: Over 1.5 (-145)
  • Total Interceptions Thrown - CJ Carr: Over 0.5 (-120)
  • Total Passing Yards - CJ Carr: Under 254.5 (-115)
  • Three-leg parlay: +479

CJ Carr's passing touchdown prop at Over 1.5 for -145 makes sense given how Notre Dame operates. The redshirt freshman has hit this in seven of nine starts, piling up 21 passing touchdowns compared to just two on the ground. He's a throw-first quarterback through and through.

The interception prop at Over 0.5 for -120, according to BetOnline, reveals a fascinating trend. Sure, Carr's only thrown picks in four of nine games overall. A closer examination, however, shows that he has been intercepted against opponents ranked in the AP Top 25 in every game this season. Pittsburgh, ranked 23rd, is a perfect example of that.

Carr's season average of 252.77 yards per game roughly matches his passing yardage line of Under 254.5 for -115. Pittsburgh's defense gives up 245.8 passing yards per game, ranking 93rd nationally, and he has remained below this threshold in five of his nine starts. In this position, the Under offers the better play.

The college football props three-leg parlay at +479 has connected just once in nine tries, so treating these as individual plays makes more sense.
