All In On The Canes
Miami comes into this one with a vengeance after losing in the National Championship last season, and FL CFB props are all in on them getting off to a hot start. Malachi Toney remains the leader in the receiving room while Mark Fletcher is one of the best running backs in the country.
The Canes replaced Carson Beck with Darian Mensah, who finished last season with 3,973 yards and 34 touchdowns. Both are the second-highest in the country. Cooper Barkate, a 1,000+ yard receiver, followed Mensah from Duke to Miami.
Some might even argue that this offense is a step ahead of last season, while the defense takes a sure step back with edge rushers Akheem Mesidor and Rueben Bain and cornerback Keionte Scott all gone.
Miami won four of its six games against ACC opponents last season by 28+ points and averaged a +3 cover margin when playing as a road team favorite.
Stanford Struggles
Stanford’s odds to at least cover on California sportsbooks depend on which version of them we get. Already in Week 0, we’ve seen two versions of this team.
In the first three quarters, Stanford got out to a strong 23-7 lead and looked certain that they were going to run with this one. Come the fourth quarter, they allowed Hawaii to score 20 unanswered points before a last-minute touchdown put Stanford back on top.
If the shaky play continues against Miami, the Canes could run with this one as early as in the first half.
