SOUTH BEND, Ind. – With college football season just under one month out, the Heisman board is set with all odds sitting towards the top of the board at its highest point.
That said, there are players towards the top of college football prop betting sites Heisman boards that could be seen as overpriced. There are three names that we’re eyeing in CJ Carr, Gunner Stockton, and Jayden Maiava. All of whom sit in the top 15 with the highest odds.
Notre Dame QB CJ Carr, +700
Right at the top of the board, we’re not buying the hype on CJ Carr just yet. There are still too many questions in the wide receiver room that need to be answered before we can trust him as the preseason favorite.
While the leading receiver from last season, Jordan Faison, remains on the roster, they lost well over 1,000 receiving yards from last year in Malachi Fields, Eli Raridon, and Will Pauling.
They did bring in some high-ceiling WR transfers in former 5-Star recruit Quincy Porter and former 4-Star recruit Mylan Graham. Both from Ohio State and redshirted last season.
Carr is coming off a 2,741-yard, 24 touchdown season in his first year starting. He isn’t a completely overpriced contender, but more of a wait and see with how the receivers pan out.
Georgia QB Gunner Stockton, +2200
On the contrary, Gunner Stockton is not a wait and see, and can be avoided from start to finish this season for college football props in Georgia. In his first year as the starter for the Dawgs, Stockton had 2,894 pass yards, 24 touchdowns, 462 rush yards, and 10 rushing touchdowns.
Georgia lost its top two receivers from last season in Zachariah Branch and Colbie Young, who made up north of 1,100 pass yards for Stockton, and didn’t do much to fill those losses. Isiah Canion was brought in from Georgia Tech, who went for 480 yards and four TDs last year.
There are some high hopes for the tight end room in Luckie Lawson, Jaden Reddell, and Ethan Barbour, but no real deep threats like there were last year.
USC QB Jayden Maiava, +2800
Maiava was in the Heisman conversation last year, finishing with 3,711 yards and 24 touchdowns. He also had two of the top receivers in the country in Makai Lemon and Ja’Kobi Lane, who combined for over 1,800 yards and 15 touchdowns last season.
Both are off to the NFL, and the Trojans brought in Terrell Anderson from NC State, who put up 787 yards and six touchdowns last year. There is just too much of a loss at receiver here to trust Maiava’s price on California prop betting sites.
