LAS VEGAS – The new look Mountain West was cut down to 10 teams following the conference realignment that saw Boise State, Fresno State, Colorado State, Utah State, and San Diego State all jump to the PAC-12.
With Boise State, Fresno State, Utah State, and San Diego State making up 12 of the last 13 conference champions, their departures leave the door open for a new power. College football prop betting sites have five teams listed with odds under +1000 and all at +500 or below.

New Mexico
This could either turn into an extremely high upside or a complete disaster. New Mexico is sticking with Jack Layne at QB despite his first-year struggles since jumping from the FCS to FBS. Lane did throw for 2,486 yards, but only managed 13 passing touchdowns and 10 interceptions. The Lobos opted to bring in QB Luke Moga from Oregon as well.
While this team brought in several Power Four transfers, there are still questions that need answering at QB before we can proceed with them as the favorites.
UNLV
Dan Mullen killed it in his first year coaching at UNLV with a 10-4 season. The Rebels bring in the top transfer portal class in the conference, highlighted by former 5-star QB Jackson Arnold from Auburn, who’ll compete with Alex Orji for the starting job.
UNLV has been to the last three Mountain West title games and all against Boise State. With Boise State now gone, this is an open lane for the Rebels to seek dominance.
North Dakota State
The 18-time FCS National Champions, North Dakota State Bison, make the jump to FBS and immediately become contenders in the Mountain West. Unfortunately for the Bison, most of its top playmakers have moved on, leaving Nathan Haynes to step in as QB1 for the first time and Raja Nelson as the go-to pass catcher.
With a new game plan and new starters, while they are priced as contenders on college football sportsbooks, there is better value elsewhere.
Hawaii
Holding up their odds on Hawaii CFB sportsbooks is Micah Alejado, plain and simple. In his first season starting, he impressed with 3,106 yards, 24 touchdowns, and just nine interceptions while leading the Rainbow Warriors to a 9-4 record and a win over Cal in the Hawaii Bowl. We expect a big leap from Alejado here and immediate contention for the title game.
Air Force
Rounding out the teams with under +1000 odds to win the Mountain West is Air Force. This one is a bit surprising considering they went 3-9 last year. The one bright spot that could make some noise is sophomore QB Liam Szarka, who totaled over 2,000 yards and 23 touchdowns last season.
