OXFORD, Miss. – Kewan Lacy is deemed by many as the top running back in the country this season following his breakout performance for 1,567 yards in 2025. While there is some concern on the schedule, there are signs that point to plus money.
College football prop betting sites are offering a plus-money return starting at 1,250+ rushing yards for Lacy this season. The third highest option on the board.

Back The Plus Money With Caution
While it’s easy to slam the +900 odds on Mississippi sportsbooks for Lacy to repeat his 1,500+ yard season, oddsmakers list it at +900 for a reason, and that is the Ole Miss schedule this season. Seven of Ole Miss’s nine SEC games this season come against last year’s top-7 run defenses in the conference. While he’ll still get plenty of work considering he led the nation in carries last season (306), his big-play ability might be limited. Even to start the season, he’ll face a top-five run defense in the ACC in Louisville.
Where his opportunity will come is against the non-P4 opponents in Charlotte and Wofford and Florida and Mississippi State in SEC games. Looking at the Week 2 game with Charlotte, this was the third-worst run defense in the American Conference last season, allowing over 200 yards per game. As for Florida and Mississippi State, these were the bottom three run defenses in the conference. Lacy put up a career-high 224 yards against Florida last season and 143 against Mississippi State.
There is also no cause for concern with the coaching change from Lane Kiffin to Pete Golding. In three games last season under Golding through the college football playoff, Lacy totaled 288 yards on 48 carries for six yards per carry.
