In his first two seasons, Smith led the Buckeyes in targets, receptions, and yards with two different quarterbacks. In his freshman season with Will Howard, he was targeted 106 times for 76 receptions and 1,315 yards. He averaged 12.4 yards per target and 17.4 yards per reception. With Julian Sayin in 2025, Smith hauled in 87 of 109 targets for 1,243 yards, averaging 11.4 yards per target and 14.3 yards per reception.
