ATLANTA – In arguably the toughest conference in all of college football, the SEC, there are five teams in contention to win the conference in the 2026-27 season, with Texas leading the way.

Horns Up For A Title Behind Arch
All the hype on Texas sportsbooks out of Austin is coming off an expected jump from Arch Manning, as many are pinning him as the top QB in the conference with a complementary portal class to back that. Manning is coming off a 3,163-yard and 36 total touchdown season for a top-30 season across the board for a 10-3 finish on the season.
The Longhorns backed up their strong outing with additions of the best receiver in the portal in Cam Coleman, Melvin Siani, and Laurence Seymore to start on the offensive line, and Hollywood Smothers and Raleek Brown out of the backfield.
Can The Dawgs Bark 3-Peat?
The Bulldogs cannot be counted out at Georgia sportsbooks. They’ve won the last two SEC Championships and have been to eight of the last nine SEC Championship games. They’re coming off a 12-2 season where they were the second-ranked defense and top-6 offense. They didn’t make many changes in the offseason through the transfer portal and lost significant talent, including Zachariah Branch and Oscar Delp on offense, and Daylen Everette and CJ Allen on defense.
Rounding Out The Contenders
Sitting behind Texas and Georgia is LSU. With a $40 million roster and Lane Kiffin coming into next season, it’s hard to ignore their odds. The additions here are highlighted by Sam Leavitt, Jordan Seaton, and Jayce Brown.
Still in search of their first SEC Championship, Texas A&M has the talent and the experience with Marcel Reed, Rueben Owens, and Mario Craver leading the way on offense. Reed led the offense with 3,169 yards and 25 touchdowns. Both are in the top 25 in the country.
Finally, Goliath might be falling as Alabama is not the preseason favorite. They have questions about their starting QB between Austin Mack and Keelon Russell, consistency issues surrounding Ryan Williams, and a fan base that is on edge about head coach Kalen DeBoer. This is the worst starting position for Alabama to win the conference since before 2008.
