DETROIT – MACtion is nearly back, and it’s time to start looking at the conference championship odds for the 2026-27 season in this new look conference that saw Northern Illinois jump to the Mountain West while adding Sacramento State from FCS.
College football prop betting sites are backing a repeat title in the 2026-27 season in Western Michigan, edging the top of the board with +300 odds, followed by Miami Ohio at +350.

Western Michigan is the team to beat with plenty of experienced returning production on offense led by QB Broc Lowry and running back Jalen Buckley. This was a true ground-and-pound offense last season, with the second-most rushing yards in the conference. Lowry himself was responsible for nearly 2,000 yards and 23 touchdowns, while Buckley added a 1,000+ yard season and nine more touchdowns.
They won the conference last year with the second-ranked defense as well, with just its second double-digit win in program history, and CFB sportsbooks rightfully have them at the top this season.
Miami, Ohio & Toledo Make Their Cases
Consistency and heavy portal influence hold up Miami and Toledo. Miami’s head coach, Chuck Martin, is entering his 12th year on the sidelines and has a 20-4 conference record over the last three seasons. They return four starters on the offensive line, however, they have a QB battle on their hands between freshman QBs in Thomas Gotkowski and David McComb.
As for Toledo, they could either hit hard or be a complete disaster. First-year head coach out of the FCS, Mike Jacobs, went heavy in the transfer portal with 37 incoming transfers for the third-ranked class in the conference.
Middle-Tier
Ohio, Buffalo, and Central Michigan sit in the middle of the field in what is an open run to the top. For Ohio, John Hauser was promoted to head coach from defensive coordinator and retained plenty of talent on the defensive end. There are major concerns at QB, though, with Nick Poulos slated as the starter with only two career starts.
Buffalo has the longest tenured head coach of the three in Pete Lembo, who brings in a top-6 portal class in the conference and a good mixture of returning talent as well. There is some doubt, given that they are coming off a 5-7 season, but there are high expectations for Jason Wright at QB.
Central Michigan is coming off a 7-6 season under Matt Drinkall in his first season as head coach. The biggest piece of hope here is that Joe Labas returns for his senior season after a decent 1,800+ yard, 13 TD year last year.
